1. Who we are

This policy covers the Tetraword word puzzle service, operated by the Tetraword team ("we", "us"). For questions about your data, contact us at [email protected].

2. What we collect

We collect the following information when you use Tetraword:

• Email address — when you sign in to save your archive across devices.
• Gameplay results — date, whether you solved the puzzle, how many checks you used, whether you earned a gold star, and the time of submission.
• Client-side preferences — your theme choice, login state, and game history are stored in your browser's localStorage (see the Cookies section below).
• IP addresses — seen transiently by our server for rate limiting but not stored.

3. How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• Save your puzzle archive so you can access it across devices.
• Generate your personal statistics (streak, win percentage, checks distribution).
• Manage which puzzles your account can access.

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or any form of third-party sharing.

4. Storage

Your email address and gameplay results are stored on our servers. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected].

Your browser also stores game state, theme preference, login, and puzzle history locally using localStorage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us unless you are signed in and submitting a result.

5. Your rights

Canadian users have rights under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA); Quebec residents have additional rights under Law 25 (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector). These include:

• Access — you can ask us what data we hold about you.
• Correction — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion — you can ask us to delete your account and associated data.
• Portability — Quebec residents may request a copy of their data in a portable format.

US users do not have a single federal privacy law, but we honour equivalent access and deletion requests regardless of jurisdiction.

6. Cookies

Tetraword uses a single strictly-necessary cookie. When you use the Check feature without signing in, we set one functional cookie named aid. It holds a random, signed identifier that lets us apply a fair per-visitor limit on anonymous Check requests — an abuse-prevention measure. It contains no personal information, is never used for tracking, advertising, or profiling, is not shared with anyone, and expires after 90 days.

Aside from that cookie, the site relies on your browser's localStorage for functional purposes (saving your game state, theme preference, login state, and puzzle history). localStorage is not used for tracking or advertising.

7. Changes

We'll update this page if the policy changes; the date below reflects the last update. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
